| What a great day in La Crosse! Sen. John McCain and Cindy touched down in La Crosse, Wisc., for a rally with a few thousand of their close friends at the La Crosse Center. The Bangor High School Band started us off with a few rousing tunes. GOP State Chairman Reince Priebus emceed the event and welcomed an enthusiastic crowd to the rally. Many local politicians and candidates came to show the McCain/Palin ticket their full support. State Sen. Dan Kapanke, Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch, congressional candidate Paul Stark and Galesville resident and 91st Assembly candidate Dave Hegenbarth whipped up the crowd and made this campaign stop a memorable event. In fact, it was a real treat to hear Dave’s wife, Barbara, sing the National Anthem. She was outstanding! Former governor Tommy Thompson was his usual fiery self and he looked and sounded great! Other state GOP dignitaries were in attendance, as well.
The La Crosse Center was rocking after the rousing speeches of Kapanke, Huebsch and Thompson. The crowd went ballistic when Sen. John and Mrs. Cindy McCain were introduced. Cindy introduced her husband and the rally took off. Sen. McCain gave an accounting of his platform and his desire to clean up Washington. The crowd cheered his every distinction between himself and The One. People waved homemade signs and slapped their bat sticks and shook their pom-pons. It was so much fun and everyone seemed to have a great time. This was my first candidate rally and it was well worth getting up so early in the morning to stand in line with my buddy Dave. |
